Systems Analysis Reflection--I Made It!

In reflection on Tasks 1-3, I think I did solid research and I learned a lot about library procurement. More than I knew even as a librarian in a K-5 school. As I dug deeper into the budget side of the library procurement process, I learned more about how inconsistent library funding allocation is across not only our state but across the different states I reviewed.

Looking back over the group analysis we completed about the annual meeting, I would say I worked better in a group than I did on Tasks 1-3. My group mates helped me focus on the task, and be more micro than macro. I also verbal process, so communicating with my team, and talking ideas out, helped a lot. The group work also gave me a more thorough experience in systemic analysis. We completed an analysis and proposed a change, and in the fall, we can evaluate the effectiveness of those changes.  With Task 1-3, it took me three iterations of research to narrow my analysis down to what could come to a proposal. I suspect it would take me another two iterations of the tasks before I could properly implement a change to the library procurement process. Overall, this course has prepared me well for analytically thinking about the systems around me. I had not previously realized how everything is systemic and can be broken down and classified. These are useful skills I will continue to develop.
